Send a message to families

The composer on the Messages page walks you through four short steps: Audience, Channels, Message, and Send.

Steps

1. Go to Messages.
2. Under Who is this for?, pick one class, group, or tag. Each card shows how many people it reaches by email and by text. Click Next.
3. Under How should they hear it?, pick Email, Text message, or both. GazetteGo also shows if your newsletter is set up. Click Next.
4. Write a Subject and a Message. You can add a button or a quick question here too. Click Next.
5. Check the summary under Ready to send: who, channels, the exact text families get, and the cost.
6. Click Send to and the number of people.

Good to know

• Email is 1 credit per family. A text is 3 credits for each 160 character part. One credit is one cent.
• A text is capped at about 300 characters. If your message is longer, the text is cut short and the email has all of it.
• Families who use the MessageGo inbox get routine messages in their inbox and daily digest, not a separate email. Turn on Urgent to reach everyone now.
• Each family reads the message in their own language. Spanish reading families get it in Spanish.
• Your draft is saved in your browser if you leave the page.
• After sending, click See who got it for the delivery report.
