Import your roster from your SIS with OneRoster

If your student information system can make a OneRoster 1.1 export, you can load students and guardians from it. PowerSchool, Infinite Campus, Skyward, and Clever all make this file.

Before you start

• You need to be an owner, an admin, or a Principal on your team. FrontOfficeGo comes with the School plan ($1,999 a year per site) and the District plan.
• Export OneRoster 1.1 CSV files from your SIS. You need users.csv at least. The upload limit is 20 MB.

Steps

1. Go to Front office, then Roster and settings.
2. Under Import from your SIS, click Import OneRoster files.
3. Under Upload, choose users.csv. Add enrollments.csv and classes.csv to fill in homerooms, and demographics.csv for birth dates. You can also upload the whole zip.
4. Click Preview.
5. Check the counts: new students, students with changes, students the file makes inactive, guardians with an email, and guardians skipped. Problem rows are listed by file and line.
6. Keep the tag or change it. Tick Email new families their family page link only if you want them emailed now.
7. Click Apply import and confirm.

Good to know

• Students and guardians match on their OneRoster id, so importing the same file again changes nothing.
• Nothing is deleted. A student your SIS turns off becomes inactive here.
• Guardians come from the parent, guardian, and relative roles. A guardian needs an email to be linked, because the family page is reached by email. Guardians without one are listed as skipped.
• There is no automatic sync yet. When your roster changes, export a fresh file and import it again.
• The preview lasts one hour.
