Check volunteers in at the door with a PIN

Every confirmed volunteer gets a QR code on their signup page. With a door PIN, your staff can scan that code with a phone camera and check the person in. Without a PIN, nobody can check in from the QR code, so a volunteer cannot check themselves in from home.

Steps

1. Go to Signups and open the signup.
2. In the Check-in and safety card, type a 4 to 6 digit number in Door PIN (4 to 6 digits).
3. Click Save. Share the PIN only with the staff at the door.
4. On the day, a staff member scans a volunteer's QR code with their phone camera. It opens a check-in page.
5. The first time on that phone, they type the PIN and tap Unlock check-in.
6. They tap Check in. The volunteer shows as here on your signup.

Good to know

• A phone stays unlocked for that signup for 30 days. To lock every phone out, type a new PIN in New door PIN (4 to 6 digits) and save.
• To turn QR check-in off, tick Remove the PIN (turns QR check-in off) and save.
• You can always check someone in by hand. Click Check in next to their name in the Spots table.
• Too many wrong tries pauses the PIN form for a minute.
• No app is needed. The camera on any phone works.
