Ultimate Summer Leagues: Running a 10-Week Season Without Burning Out

Summer Ultimate leagues run for 10 weeks and eat your Tuesday nights. Here's how to automate registration, scheduling, and SMS so you can play, too.

Ultimate summer leagues are the heart of every city's scene - and they usually run on one commissioner's personal email account. Here's how to automate the operations so you can actually play the league you're running.

Register individuals with skill tiers

Collect skill rating (1-5), preferred gender match, availability (which nights), and jersey size at registration. Close registration 10 days before the draft.

Draft day made easier

Captains draft in a snake order across skill tiers with gender-match constraints. Export the player list to CSV and run the draft in your room - then import the final teams back into the platform. Teams go live; SMS goes out.

Weekly schedule automation

10 weeks of round-robin where every team plays every other team twice is the standard. Your scheduler should generate the full 10-week schedule in one click - field assignments, rotations, and byes included.

SMS is your only communication channel that works

Ultimate players do not check email. Every rainout, schedule swap, and make-up date goes out by SMS to captains. 500 credits a month (included in SignUpGo) covers a 16-team summer league comfortably.

Playoffs

End the 10 weeks with a single-day playoff tournament. Seed by regular-season record, run pool play into single elimination, and publish the bracket live. Your commissioner should not be texting bracket results from the field.

Spirit of the Game across the season

Collect Spirit after every game. Publish the running Spirit leaderboard to your league website. The Spirit champion gets its own trophy - and the Spirit leaderboard itself becomes recruiting for next season.
